The project consists of two slender towers connected by a plinth that acts as a tying element. The complex is raised on a platform accessed by a staircase located in the central axis of the space, thus reinforcing the idea of symmetry of the proposal.
This platform functions as a public plaza, a space where interaction and recreation are promoted. In its encounter with the ground, the building acquires a more human scale through the plinth that makes up the base.
The vertical elements that make up the facade generate a rhythm of solids and voids that varies according to the movement of the sun, reflecting the passage of time.
The project is called Barzakh because of its poetic and philosophical meaning. It symbolises a state of transition or separation which, paradoxically, also unites two distinct elements. It also invites reflection on dualities, balance and connection through separation.
It reflects the symmetry and relationship between the two structures, united visually and conceptually. It evokes mystery, sophistication and depth, linked to the cultural heritage of the Middle East.
It symbolises the balance between tradition and modernity, a recurring theme in the architecture of the region. It also highlights verticality, as a symbolic bridge between heaven and earth or different cultural perspectives, offering a personal and universal interpretation.
The plinth houses the entrance hall, conceived as a large, bright space that acts as a transition between the exterior and the interior.
The facade system is characterized by following a rigorous order through a monumental lattice made up of pillars. Its design gives the building a heavy but light, opaque but transparent image.
